This is site is not meant to be the be-all and end-all of
Celiac Disease/Gluten Intolerant sites. I just want to
direct people to a few sites that have been very helpful.
Braintalk - Celiac Disease/Gluten
Sensitivity - This was the best forum for
medical and technical information when it came to Celiac
Disease/ Non Celiac Gluten Sensitvity. When I was first
searching for answers to my problems, I came across some
posts from JCC in Braintalk's Peripheral Neuropathy board that
connected some of my symptoms together. Long story
short, it turns out that gluten was at the root of
many of my issues. I spent the next 4 years with some
really great people; learning and building the data
that existed at Braintalk. Sadly July 2006 the server
crashed taking years of data with it. The data is
supposed to return in archive format, but that has not
materialized as of yet. Luckily several members keep
their own backups and most of the "static" data was
resurrected in a standalone site cared for by JCC
called The Gluten File. A massive
collection of scientific articles all relating to
gluten and how it affects us. There's a mix of
day-to-day and technical info here too, but I'd say
it's weighted towards the technical/medical end of the
spectrum.
Celiac.com - This site is a
wealth of info. It has a very active and large
discussion board.
Celiac Forums @ glutenfree.com - As you saw on
the home page, I am the moderator here. I stumbled
across this little site in October 2004. It was just
barely off the ground, very quiet; it looked like an
interesting place to hang out for awhile. Well, I'm
still here. This site is still small [but growing daily]
comparatively speaking when looking at other discussion
boards, but the group here is dedicated & caring.
There are several very experienced GF bakers here.
Between them, non gluten free goodies don't have a
chance! There's a mix of day-to-day management and
technical info that can be found here. It's weighted
more towards the day-to-day type things. I've been told
that there's a feeling of "family" and fun, which is
good since I try to foster that. If you're looking for
GF recipes, there's a boat load of them!
Delphi's Celiac Disease On-Line Support
Group - Another active discussion
board that has been around for a long time. This board
tends not to stray too far from traditional, gold
standard diagnosed Celiac Disease.
GlutenFreeAndBeyond.org - My
Braintalk friends and I started GFAB in June 2007. We
wanted to have more control; over our data and the way
the forum was run. Using the same internal concepts of
the Braintalk forum, we set up our own. Non Celiac
Gluten Sensitivity [NCGS] tends to get a lot of emphasis
here. The concept of NCGS is ever evolving. Thankfully
there are doctors that have proven what many of us have
known and experienced for years! Other health related
topics as well as other food intolerances are covered.
There's a lot attention paid to the neurological aspects
of gluten sensitivity. The latest research & medical
journal articles are found, posted and discussed.
Support and day to day management skills are covered as
well.
